Drupal Post Images and Thumbnails

To be able to add an image field to a content node that will be displayed in the node and as a thumbnail in the listings.

The tutorial covers it well but is for 5.x so the following updates are required to do it in 6.x.

Some of the functionality will be in the core of 7.x.

Required Modules:

• File Field
• ImageAPI
• Image Field
• Image Cache
• Transliteration (can be useful to escape filenames)

1. Install and enable the modules, (note that 'image' in 5.x is now 'image field' in 6.x in the CCK
2. Administer ImageCache and set up a namespace ('main') and choose a scale action (i.e. limit/scale width to 300px).
3. Create another preset 'thumbnail'. and add two actions scale and crop (however I have used just scale to get a 100x100)
4. Go to content types (e.g. story) and add a field (note that it appears as a File Field in the drop down list of field types) - set the max resolution and file path, alt and title attributes.
5. Configure the field in the display fields : Teaser - thumbnail linked to node and main use full image
6. Move the field in the list of display fields to a suitable position and restyle if required (i.e. float right, padding etc) - the css should be added to the local.css of your theme (c.f. updating the core)

Next we install the following modules:

• File Field Paths
• Image Field Tokens

These will enable us to use wider tokens(such as the [title] from the node) in the image field ALT and Title and will enable the use of tokens in the upload file folder.
